6 Gadgets for Beer-Loving Campers

For some, camping is about experiencing the great outdoors, going on hikes, “roughing it” and spending quality time with family and friends. For others, it’s the perfect excuse to do nothing but sit back and drink beer all day long. That being said, here are a few gadgets that we think will aid in the drinking, the drunk and the hangover.

1. A Portable Mini-Keg Dispenser

Coolers full of beer are nice, but ice packs go warm and often the cans do too. Besides, there’s nothing better than drinking draft. While there are many keg dispensers on the market, we decided to go with the Avanti 5L Mini Beer Keg as it’s designed to be portable, it holds camping-perfect 5L mini-kegs, and can be easily hooked up to any portable camping generator. Beers ahoy!

2. An Iced Pitcher

Just as integral as it is to have freshly poured beer, it too is important to have a perfect vessel to carry it in. While there’s no trouble pouring directly into a glass, it may be inconvenient to carry the full keg and generator down to the waterfront for top-ups, so the Unbreakable Iced Pitcher from Sporty’s is perfect. It stores the ice in a separate compartment to prevent your beer from getting watered down, and it’s removable lid ensures you won’t be spotting dead insects in the top of your pint.

3. Easy Fire Starters

The last thing you want to do after a few pints of brew is struggle to build that necessary evening fire. Fortunately, the folks over at Light My Fire have the perfect solution. They offer quick-light kindling and tinderdust, as well as flints, knives and even a versatile Firefork for over-the-fire cooking.

4. GPS

It’s easy enough to get lost sober, but late-night stumbles through the forest may result in sleeping beneath a log. And good luck trying to use an old-school compass. We selected the Magellan Triton 2000 because it’s just too fancy to ignore. With a full-color touchscreen, camera, voice recorder and even a flashlight, this thing can do no wrong. Hell, you’ll want to try and get lost with this thing by your side.

5. A Camping Hammock

Just look at that thing. Of course you want to sleep in that. We don’t even care that, yes, it’ll be a total pain to climb into after a mini-keg in at 2am, but you know what, who cares? That right there is the Clark North American Jungle Hammock. As if hammocks weren’t awesome enough already, this thing is rain-proof, bug-proof, wind-proof, flood-proof and any other proof you can think of. It has storage pockets and a no-tip design for even the most plastered of campers. Just be sure to set it up before you get into the beer.

6. A Coffee Maker

After a long day and night of drinking, you’ll need coffee in the morning, stat. We selected the Jetboil Personal Cooking System because it doesn’t require building a fire, can be purchased with a coffee-press attachment to brew your coffee right in the maker itself, but isn’t limited to such. It’s easy to use, so your hangover won’t be further aggravated, and it looks pretty cool, too.

Happy camping!
