Apple Announces: One Million iPads Sold
Today, Apple has announced a milestone for its latest product, the iPad. Apple has sold over 1,000,000 iPads in 28 days since its introduction on April 3. Users have already downloaded apps in the millions, 12 million apps from the app store and over 1.5 million ebooks from their iBookstore.
From Steve Jobs:
One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone.
Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.
To date, developers have contributed over 5,000 iPad-specific apps, but the iPad will support almost all of the apps previously developed for the app store, of which there are more than 200,000.
