For the last few years, Google has put much less emphasis on their “do no evil” mantra. The company that started off as the underdog and grew through a combination of simplicity, innovation, and positive buzz has shifted their stances on these foundational concepts and turned towards a more general approach to being a business.

There is more and more confusion added to the mix every time the automakers come out with a new version of energy efficient vehicles. There’s hybrids, plug-in hybrids, plug-in electric vehicles, and likely several more on the way that combine gas, electricity, solar, hydrogen, nuclear, and gravitational energy induction to propel our vehicles.
What do eye glasses, stoves, and cows have to do with our future? They’re all a part of the rise of “personal technology” that is currently disrupting the way many people live their lives. For the most part, it’s not a bad disruption (unless you’re in an industry that relies on old technology). It’s just a change that is being enhanced by the exponential increase in scientific and technological knowledge being applied to the gadgets we own and the emerging gadgets of tomorrow.
It’s possible to run from a tornado. Hurricanes normally have a lot of warning that precedes them before they hit land. Ice, heat, and other environmental challenges can be dealt with. Earthquakes and tsunamis, on the other hand, can devastate without warning.
When people think of the cutting edge technology that’s driving innovation, they normally think of tablets and televisions, spacecraft and computer programs. Rarely does one think of taxi cabs, but that’s exactly what New York City and Nissan are hoping will drive the innovation of the future with their Taxi o Tomorrow campaign.
