Ford is Giving Away 5,000 Home EV Charging Stations
Electric vehicles (EV) are coming and they are coming fast. Some of us already own hybrids of some sort and some of us might know someone that knows someone that works with someone that has a fully electric vehicle. However, in the very near future, all-electric vehicles will be commonplace and Ford wants to help its early electric car customers by giving away almost 5,000 in-home charging stations.
Ford has teamed up with Coulomb Technologies to develop and give away almost $37 million worth of in-home charging stations to the first of its EV customers. The Blue Oval ChargePoint program will offer a free ChargePoint Networked Charging Station to residents of nine U.S. cities who purchase the Ford Transit Connect EV.
Ford’s plans for future EV’s include the Transit Connect EV, an all-electric Focus, a plug-in hybrid vehicle, and two lithium-ion-powered hybrids.
