Landing a job isn’t that hard, heck, passing out fliers is a job, but landing the job you want, now that can be tough, especially with the economic woes of late. With more people in the job market and less jobs to hand out, creativity just may be the only edge up you’ve got.
So, when Alec Brownstein went job hunting, he added 1/2 cup of creativity and ended up with exactly what he set out to get, thanks to Google.
The appropriately named Convert PDF to Power Point does exactly what it says. Simply upload your PDF document, enter an email address for it to be received at, and wait a minute or two. You’ll get an email with a link to download your new Power Point file.
The service is free but they do state a limit of just 3 pages, although when I tried it out, I actually got my whole 10 pages. For anything longer you would most likely have to break the PDF document up, but there are other free tools online that can help you do that, like Split PDF.
The best part is that the Power Point presentation file you receive is fully editable. I imagine this is something that would come in handy for students or for last minute changes when you’re not by your computer.
Time for a new leader over at Mozilla, the company most known for its Firefox web browser. Sources tipped off Kara Swisher of AllThingsD letting her know that John Lilly will be resigning as CEO of the browsing powerhouse for another position at venture firm, Greylock.
The search for a replacement is already on, and although they would like to just find the right guy and make the swap, it’s more likely that there will be a gradual transition between Lilly and whomever is to replace him.
Lilly leaves on good terms, and will remain on Mozilla’s board. Mozilla’s Firefox browser has been growing ever since it debuted in 2004. Recent numbers put the browser’s popularity at a little over 24% of total Internet browsing.
The once rivals, eBay and Alibaba will finally be working together. Alibaba is one of China’s largest e-commerce firms. Formally, the two companies have been in a virtual feud over the growing $220 million e-commerce market in China. With it’s new service AliExpress, which is still in Beta, they have agreed to use PayPal as their customer merchant account.
Recently eBay has pretty much withdrawn from the Chinese market as it has lost more and more market share. This gives them at least a workable way to gain some business without going head-to-head with Alibaba, whose parent company, Tom Group is owned 40% by Yahoo, Inc.
Just confirmed by venture debt firm Wellington Financial, Google has acquired the 3D desktop Canadian startup BumpTop. Per BumpTop they we no longer be selling the interface but will have it available for download for another week. There has not been word on what exactly Google’s plans are and if this means it will be offered for free.

Google, who has been on the heavy acquisition front for some time now, has just acquired widget creators, LabPixies. Google and LabPixies have been working together for years on many of its widgets for its popular personalization tool, iGoogle.
No word yet on how much the purchase cost Google, but effective today the LabPixies team will join Google’s Tel Aviv office and will look to expand iGoogle’s efforts over Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
