If you have a smartphone or a tablet, there’s a good chance that you have mobile apps on it. For many, it’s the reason we buy the devices in the first place. Apps often give us near-PC functionality without having to lug around an “archaic” laptop or even a netbook. The industry, as can be seen in this infographic, is becoming monstrous.

Smartphones are in a constant state of connecting. Even when they aren’t necessarily “doing” anything, many of the apps sitting on the phone are trying to connect with this database or that information hub to get the data they need to work. In some cases, they’re attempting to get this information at all times.

It’s hard to believe that the Acura brand has been in America for a quarter century. There was a time when luxury cars were either American or German and Japanese vehicles were the economic selection during a time when gas was starting to skyrocket. Now, 25 years later, Acura continues to be a force in the luxury automotive market.
It’s possible to run from a tornado. Hurricanes normally have a lot of warning that precedes them before they hit land. Ice, heat, and other environmental challenges can be dealt with. Earthquakes and tsunamis, on the other hand, can devastate without warning.
Most believe that Apple’s road to taking over mobile was a smooth one. They may not recall the first attempt to combine an iPod and a phone: the Motorola ROKR. The reason you may not recall the ROKR is that it failed miserably when it was released in 2005.
When people think of the cutting edge technology that’s driving innovation, they normally think of tablets and televisions, spacecraft and computer programs.
