Apple Delay’s White iPhone 4 Again

Today, Apple announced that the white version of their iPhone 4 that was set to come out at the end of July will be delayed again. This time, there is no expected date or time frame other than “they will not be available until later this year.”

Later this year could mean as late as December, which of course could then be delayed again and we may never see the promised white iPhone 4. The reason? Well, Apple again claims the white iPhone 4 to be, “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected.” I would understand if there were big differences in the hardware or software, but not color. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Apple to Hold iPhone 4 Press Conference Friday

Apple Inc has called a surprise press conference for Friday to talk about the iPhone 4, as the company continues to deal with fallout from reported reception problems on its popular smartphone.

Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said late on Wednesday the company would hold the event at 10 a.m. on Friday at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

He declined to provide further details, or to say whether the event will address the signal-strength problems that some people have reported having with the iPhone 4 when the device is held in a certain way.

Apple has faced mounting criticism from analysts and consumers over its handling of complaints about the reception issues on the newest iPhone, which was launched last month.

Analysts say Apple has created a public relations headache for itself by appearing to dismiss or ignore the problem, allowing a minor issue to be turned into headline news.

Recently, I decided to watch a few episodes of The Jetsons with the intention of picking out futuristic technologies that exist today, roughly 50 years later. All of the episodes I watched aired in the first season, between 1962 and 1963. These episodes ran on re-run steadily until the 1980′s, when ongoing popular demand led to production of new episodes.

The TeleViewer is a screen with the sole purpose of delivering news headlines in a similar format to newsprint. It has moving images (read: embedded media) and provides the reader with a more interactive and multi-dimensional experience. In essence, the TeleViewer predicts online news and the shift from print to digital. This shift has never been more clear than it is now with the iPad.
