Most believe that Apple’s road to taking over mobile was a smooth one. They may not recall the first attempt to combine an iPod and a phone: the Motorola ROKR. The reason you may not recall the ROKR is that it failed miserably when it was released in 2005.

Facebook’s iPhone App Is Getting Abused. Now Where’s My iPad App?
Facebook’s release 3-weeks ago of the latest version of their iPhone app has been met with something that can only be described as a “less than enthusiastic” response. Despite being hugely popular over the years and claiming nearly 90 million downloads (about half of the total number of devices that are capable of downloading Apple apps), this version was a lemon.
The social networking giant has responded with emergency fixes that they are planning on releasing today, but as of this article the new version is still not available. That’s fine. My only question: will we see a Facebook iPad app before or after we see the iPad 3?

Report: Verizon to sell iPhone from early 2011
Apple Inc plans to begin making a new iPhone by the end of the year, and Verizon Wireless will begin selling them in early 2011, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
AT&T is the sole U.S. carrier for the popular smartphone, and investors and consumers alike have long speculated over when Apple will expand distribution.
Verizon Wireless and Apple representatives were not immediately available for comment on the report.
A recent study by Deloitte found that close to half of Apple iPhone users would be interested in switching over to Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications Inc and Vodafone, if that option were available.

So you have an iPhone AND you’re a lush? Well then, this bottle opener equipped iPhone case is perfect for you. You’ll be able to open a beer while you’re talking on the phone, playing Angry Birds, or searching for new apps. Right now the iBottleOpener is only available for the iPhone 3G and 3Gs, but I would imagine the case for the iPhone 4 is right around the corner.

iPhone and Nokia the Most Recycled Mobile Phones in the U.K.
Out of the ten mobile phone models most frequently sold back to recycling companies, the Telegraph reports that the two manufacturers (Apple iPhone and Nokia) landed in nine of the spots, including favourites such as the iPhone 3G 16 GB, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the Nokia 6300 were among them, with the tenth favourite being the only exception, the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite.
The study’s results also coincide with both brands’ popularity; Apple’s iPhone series and Nokia’s slide models have been some of the biggest sellers in Britain in recent years. Experts say Nokia mobile phone models and iPhones are most likely being recycled because of, not in spite of, their sleek designs, since customers who value style are often the ones who upgrade their phones more frequently. This year alone, more than a million people in the U.K. are expected to buy a new phone, research suggests.
