Well, maybe not.
In celebration of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety‘s 50th anniversary, a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air was crashed into a 2009 Chevrlet Malibu. As you can see from the video below, the results were significantly different from a survivability-perspective.
“It was night and day, the difference in occupant protection,” says Institute president Adrian Lund. “What this test shows is that automakers don’t build cars like they used to. They build them better.”
