Connectivity
Headphones are audio devices you can use on the go, but you need to be plugged in or connected to a mobile device, console, or PC to use them. The CloudX and the Cloud II have the same problem, but which would come out better.
Compatibility
The CloudX and Cloud II do not come with Wireless Connectivity, so you’ll have to use their cable. The cables both headphones use are 3.5mm AUX Cables that are not detachable and can be plugged in your PC’s AUX Port.
Sadly since both headphones use cables, you can’t plug them on new generation phones because they don’t have AUX Ports. These headphones are also compatible with XBOX, but only the Cloud II is compatible with Playstation Consoles.
Both the CloudX and the Cloud II need a Stereo Adapter if you want to use it on the XBOX with older controllers. The Cloud II does fit the PC more than consoles because its features are more focused on PC users.
Cable Length
The cable on the CloudX is longer than the one on the Cloud II. The CloudXs cables are 1.3meters long, while the one on the Cloud II is only 1meter long. These headphones are plug-and-play, so you don’t need to worry about downloading any applications for them to work.
Sound quality
Since headphones aren’t cheap, you have to make sure that they have quality builds, and the sound quality must be good. Does the CloudX and the Cloud II have good sound quality? Which one is better?
Noise Cancelling
Both the CloudX and the Cloud II do not have Active Noise Canceling, which gives you better noise reduction. They do have Passive Noise Canceling by sitting tightly on your ears that creates a seal that reduces background noise to a certain extent.
Surround Sound
Surround Sound helps increase the sound quality by giving you an immersive feel while watching movies or playing games. The Cloud II does have 7.1 Surround Sound built-in, while the CloudX doesn’t. Even though both headphones have Stereo Speakers that let the left and right channels be independent, Surround Sound makes the experience better.
Frequency Range
Both the CloudX and the Cloud II have the same frequency range of 15Hz – 25000Hz. The lowest frequency of 15Hz gives you more deep and juicier bass, and the higher frequency of 25000Hz gives you much crispier and clear trebles. These headphones also have 53mm speakers that give you louder sound and better bass.
Microphone
Most headphones in the market include microphones right out of the box, so you don’t have to buy a new microphone to communicate with friends. The CloudX and the Cloud II do include a microphone when you purchase, but which microphone is better?
Removable Microphone
Both the CloudX and Cloud II have removable in-line microphones you could attach and detach if you need them to. This helps when you don’t want to use the mic or have an independent microphone. These microphones are flexible, so you don’t have to worry about moving them if necessary.
Frequency Range
The CloudX and Cloud II microphones have similar frequency ranges at 50Hz – 18000Hz, which helps you record deeper bass sounds and higher trebles. The microphones also have a sensitivity level of -3dBV/PA, which is the loudness of the sound that the microphones can pick up.
Noise Canceling
The CloudX and the Cloud II do have Noise Canceling built-in, which helps you in reducing the background noise that the microphone can pick up. But the Cloud II has Echo Cancellation, which helps with reducing the echo. Both the CloudX and the Cloud II microphones do not have Wind Noise Reduction built-in.
Comfort
Since you’ll be using headphones for a long time, they have to be comfortable so that it wouldn’t be a bother in long gaming times or binge-watching your favorite series. Let’s see which of the two headphones is more comfortable.
The frames for both these headphones are Dual Aluminum Bands that are very light and durable, weighing around 315g – 350g, with soft head pads. These headphones have adjustable sizes to ensure that they’ll fit on any head size.
The CloudX and Cloud II have HyperXs Signature Comfort, made with their signature Memory Foam and Leatherette. They also do have soft head pads. The headphones are very comfortable.
Controls
Having controls on your headphones can be pretty useful in times where you don’t even notice them. Usually, controls can be found on the side of the ear cups or on the cables they have. Let’s see whether the CloudX or Cloud II has better controls than the other.
The CloudX and Cloud II have In-line Controls that can be found on the cables. The CloudX has Sound Volume, Mic Volume, and Mute controls on its control panel. While the Cloud II has the same controls as the CloudX, it has an additional 7.1 Surround Sound Button to activate the Surround Sound Feature.
Price
Quality headphones can cost over $100, but the CloudX and the Cloud II fit just within a budget of $100 without compromising their quality. Which of these two headphones is cheaper? Let’s find out.
The CloudX costs around $69.99 on HyperXs official store; it’s cheaper than the Cloud II that costs $99.99.
