Having functional and high-quality computer accessories actually contributes to our work productivity or gaming hobbies. For example, a good computer mouse makes the work faster because you can easily hover the cursor around the screen. The function is also way better when the mouse you use has a good grip and adequate cable size.
A high-end computer mouse is commonly produced by well-known tech companies like Razer. This company has been producing different versions of computer mice, and two of their top sales are the Razer Mamba Elite and Razer DeathAdder. They are similarly performing mechanical mice that are often picked out by people for a better quality of work output.
If you are considering purchasing a new mouse, knowing their specifications and special features should be done first to help you decide which type would fit your hand grip and if it works well on your computer. Thus, this article will guide you in comparing and contrasting the two top-selling mouse products of Razer, which are the Razer Elite Mamba and Razer DeathAdder.
Main Differences
The Razer Mamba Elite and DeathAdder are very much alike in terms of ergonomics, connectivity, and both items have an outstanding customizable CPI. Nonetheless, the DeathAdder mouse has better functions than the Mamba Elite, although not much of a big difference.

Connection and Installation
DeathAdder and Mamba Elite are quite similar in terms of connecting and installing them to your PCs. Both items are supported by braided wire cables with a port end compatible with USB type connection. DeathAdder has a longer cable length which is 7.1 ft or 2.2 m, while Mamba Elite’s cable length measures 7.0 ft or 2.1 m.
Sadly, the items do not have a Bluetooth connection feature. However, Razer uses a software called Razer Synapse 3 for the installation of the two mechanical mice. It is an efficient utility software as it provides customized settings in the computer when you plug the mouse. In the customized settings, you can create your own profile, turn on or off the RGB setting, and adjust CPI.
Unfortunately, Razer Synapse 3 cannot be installed on macOS because of its incompatibility. However, both mice have an onboard memory that saves your personalized settings and maintains them even if you switch the computer you use. If you are using Mac as your computer device, you can also save profiles in your cloud and even link all your Razer products.
Aside from the difference in the cable length of the two devices, Razer claimed that DeathAdder has the new and improved cable material. The wire is very sturdy but not too stiff to use rather. The item is said to be more flexible than the other models. While Mamba Elite is known for its typical rigid braided cable and has permanent kinks, which is a little irritating for those who have cluttered desk space.
DPI
DPI (dots per inch) or CPI (counts per inch) is the number of pixels the sensor detects when the mouse is moving one inch. This will determine how sensitive and fast your mouse’s cursor moves. The number of CPI is crucial for gaming systems because when the value isn’t right, it will create lags and delays which is the most irritating thing when playing or working.
A good CPI value has an appropriate amount of minimum CPI and maximum CPI. These two are proportional meaning the lower the minimum CPI, the mouse is more efficient. Likewise, when the maximum CPI is higher, the mouse will move better.
Both Razer DeathAdder and Mamba Elite have a 100 minimum CPI which is a good number in reducing the distance of the cursor’s movement when moving the mouse at a fixed distance. However, the maximum CPI of DeathAdder, which is 20,000 CPI, is higher than Mamba Elite which is 16,000 maximum CPI. The two models have great values of CPI, but DeathAdder has faster cursor movement and lesser chance of lagging when the mouse is moving.
On a side note, the two devices have 50 CPI adjustment steps which mean that they are both adjustable in the mouse’s software system.
Optical Sensor
The sensor technology of DeathAdder and Mamba Elite is Optical LED. In terms of sensor model, Mamba uses Razer 5G while Deathadder uses the latest sensor model of Razer which is Focus+ system.
Clearly, the Deathadder has a greater optical sensor than Mamba Elite. Aside from having the latest sensor model, the CPI variation of Deathadder is 7% which means the movement has more stability and consistency compared with Mamba Elite which has -2% of CPI variation. Nonetheless, both models have the standard number of CPI, and their plugged-in system is responsive enough for a mechanical mouse. Moreover, the two models have a 1.2 mm lift-off distance from the surface desk, which is the appropriate measure for users who do not lift their mice too high.
Ergonomics
Razer Mamba Elite has a smooth, black, and matte finish texture. On the sides of the mouse, you will see the RGB lighting strips with nine zones for different ways of customizing the color light. The volume of the mouse is 364 cubic meters, having a length of 126 mm, a height of 44 mm, and a width of 69 mm. This size is adequately suited for palm gripping in small, medium, large, and extra-large hand sizes.
However, small hands users cannot hold the mouse in claw or fingertip grip. For the weight of the mouse, Mamba Elite weighs about 131 grams including the cable wire. The mass is equally distributed to provide a good hand grip for the users. Based on reviews, the overall comfort rate of Mamba Elite Mouse is 8.5, which is a good score worth considering when purchasing a mechanical mouse for gaming.
On the contrary, Razer DeathAdder has a black glossy texture and a matte coating which is almost identical to the Razer DeathAdder Elite. Their only difference is that DeathAdder has its CPI switch toggles in different sizes and shapes. The mouse also has a logo of Razer on its back which is RGB lighted as well as the mouse wheel.
For sizes, the DeathAdder is a little bigger and more lightweight than the Mamba Elite. Its volume is 385 cubic meters which has a measure of 127 mm in length, 2.8 mm in width, and 43 mm in height.
The maximum centered weight is 113 grams, including the cable wire. And similar to Mamba Elite, the palm gripping is suited for all hand sizes except for claw and finger grip that do not support small hand sizes. Nonetheless, the overall rating for the comfortability of the DeathAdder is 9.0, which is a bit higher than the Mamba Elite.
Note: Both products can only be used with your right hand.
Special Functions
Razer Mamba Elite has a total number of 10 buttons and an additional two side buttons. This model also has a CPI button on top, a profile switching button, and tilt buttons on the scroll wheel. All of these switch buttons are programmable except for the profile switch button.
Thus, Mamba Elite has a total of 11 programmable buttons, which is an advantage for office workers who are interested in this product because there are lots of shortcut buttons to use.
On the other hand, Razer DeathAdder has a total of 8 buttons. Two buttons are present on the sides and 18 programmable inputs. This model has Profile Switching and DPI Switching buttons as well.
Plus, the cool thing about the toggles of DeathAdder is that all buttons, including the switch button, are programmable, and this also provides a HyperShift button for additional customization options. The scroll wheel is highly preferable because, unlike Mamba Elite, it doesn’t have a horizontal wheel or L/R buttons.
Price
These mechanical mice – Razer DeathAdder and Razer Mamba Elite – can be purchased on Best Buy Online Store. The items prices are quite appropriate for their special specifications. Razer DeathAdder’s average price is between $44.00 to $46.00, and you can also purchase their latest color release, the Halo Infinite Edition, for about $80.00. In comparison, Mamba Elite is only available in black color and has an average price of $58.99 to $59.99.
Conclusion – Razer Mamba vs DeathAdder
The Razer Mamba Elite and DeathAdder are very much alike in terms of ergonomics, connectivity, and both items have an outstanding customizable CPI. Moreover, the two products are well-built for either working purposes or video games.
Both mice provide comfortable hand grip and excellent performance in hovering the cursor and are highly responsive to clicking movements.
Nonetheless, the DeathAdder mouse has better functions than the Mamba Elite, although not much of a big difference. Its lightweight and less rigid cable specifications and its higher CPI number and lower click latency gave the DeathAdder an edge for better purchase. Plus, this product is way more affordable than the Mamba Elite.
