Dimensions and Compatibility

Different Cases have different sizes and compatibility with components. Some are too big, and some are too small, so finding the perfect sized case compatible with your chosen parts is a must. What do the 4000X and the 5000X offer, and what are they compatible with?

Size

Sizes vary from case to case, and these differences can help you decide what parts you might want for your PC. But, not all large cases look good with smaller parts, or the PC would feel empty.

Mid-Tower Cases are the halfway point from being too large or too small. These cases are the most common ones used today. The 4000X and the 5000X are in this category.

Although the 4000X and the 5000X are Mid-Tower Cases, they still have a difference in size. At 456mm tall, 230mm wide, and 453mm deep, the 4000X is noticeably smaller than the 5000X that’s 520mm tall, 248mm wide, and 520mm deep. This gives the 5000X better size compatibility and more space for water-cooled builds.

Compatibility

Large cases offer more compatibility with larger parts. And Mid-Tower Cases provide a lot of compatibility with different components without being too cramped.

The 4000X and the 5000X are compatible with ATX, E-ATX, Micro ATX, and Mini ITX Motherboards, giving you a lot of choices on what motherboard to choose. They have a maximum CPU cooler height of 170mm.

The 5000X also has a larger maximum GPU length capacity of 420mm. Compared to the 4000X having a maximum GPU length of just 360mm. Both the 4000X and the 5000X are compatible with Vertical GPU Mounting.

Both the 4000X and the 5000X have two drive bays for 3.5in HDDs. The 5000X does have four drive bays for 2.5in SSDs, while the 4000X only has two.

Cable Management

Although cables are not seen from the front of the case, keeping it neat does make the PC feel more special. But do the 4000X and the 5000X offer easier and cleaner Cable Management? Let’s find out.

The 4000X does have cable routes and cable ties built in the case. This makes it easier to keep the cables neat. The 5000X has Corsair’s Rapidroute Cable Management that is a better and faster way to manage your cables.

Optics

Cases these days have better looks than what we had before. Having good-looking cases gives you more confidence to show off your build to the world. It also helps if you want to show your expensive components and RGB lighting.

The 4000X and the 5000X have both side and front Tempered Glass panels showing your RGB Lighting and components. The 4000X and the 5000X are sold in two different colors, White and Black.

Sadly there is no RGB Lighting integrated into these cases. They are ready for RGB through Corsairs ICUE RGB System, and they do have RGB Fans included on purchase.

Cooling

PC parts do heat up when they are used, especially under heavy load. Cases should have enough airflow and mounting places to be able to help the parts don’t overheat and might cause a fire hazard.

Fans

The 4000X and the 5000X include three AirGuide RGB Fans included as purchase; the White version of the 5000X still had three AirGuide RGB (White Version).

The 4000X can mount six 120mm fans or four 140mm fans. The 5000X does have more fan mounting available, allowing for nine 120mm fans or 140mm fans.

The 4000X and the 5000X can be mounted with two 140mm fans and three 120mm fans in the front. At the top, the 4000X can mount two 140mm fans and two 120mm fans, while the 5000X can mount two 140mm fans and three 120mm fans.

The 5000X does have a Motherboard Tray allowing the case to mount three additional 120mm fans. Both cases can also mount a single 120mm fan on the rear as well.

Radiator

Both the 4000X and the 5000X can mount 280mm or 360mm radiators at the front. Still, since 5000X is a larger case, it can also carry a 280mm or 360mm radiator at the top. In contrast, the 4000X can only mount a Low-Profile 280mm radiator or a 240mm radiator.

The 5000X can also carry a 120mm or 240mm, or 380mm radiator on the Motherboard Tray. Both the 4000X and the 5000X can also support a 120mm radiator at the rear.

The 4000X and the 5000X can utilize either an Air-Cooled or a Water-Cooled system when cooling is concerned. With the 5000X larger size, it is a great candidate for Custom Water Cooled builds.

Price

High-quality cases can be priced for as low as $25-$30, but the ones that look attractive can cost around $100 onward. Corsair is known for its top-quality products and great reviews, and it’s not a question why Corsair products are more on the pricey side.

The Corsair 4000X retails at $94.99 and above. The Corsair 5000X, on the other hand, retails for 164.99 and above. The price for these cases is well justified because of their premium build, great design, and quality standard that Corsair has.

Conclusion – Corsair 4000X vs 5000X

The Corsair 4000X and the Corsair 5000X are great cases to have; both are spacious and compatible with most PC components. These cases have excellent quality and design that make them stand out from the crowd.

For the 4000X price of under $100, it has impressive airflow and enough features to make a great PC out of. But if you want to go all out, and make a custom water-cooled PC, then you can go for the 5000X because of its spacious interior and better airflow and mounting options.

But the winner of this comparison between the Corsair 4000X and the 5000X would be the 4000X. Although it might be smaller and offer less compatibility than the 5000X, it’s still a great case that gives you enough room and airflow that you might need for your PC.
